Cuttack-A, East Coast Railway declared Kalahandi Cup joint-winners

East Coast Railway and Cuttack-A were declared joint champions in the Kalahandi Cup Senior Inter-District Cricket Tournament after the rain-marred four-day final between the two sides ended without producing any result at Ravenshaw University ground here today.
Play in the last two day was completely washed out the, while the proceedings of the second day was partly affected. At the close of second day`s play, Cuttack-A were 174 for seven, in reply to defending champions East Coast Railway`s first innings total of 193.
Cuttack-A will meet defending champions East Coast Railway in the final of the Kalahandi Cup Senior Inter-District Cricket Tournament at Ravenshaw University ground in Cuttack from June 10 to 13. Cuttack booked berth in the final by virtue of taking a 529-run first innings lead against Bhubaneswar-A in their four-day semifinal match, which ended in a draw at Bidanasi ground here today.
The last day`s play was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to overnight rain, which made the ground condition unplayable. Cuttack-A were 133 for one in their second innings at the close of third day`s play. The highlight of the match was a big double hundred by Cuttack-A`s Niranjan Behera and a century by teammate Bikash Pati.
Earlier in the first semifinal, which ended in two days at Ravenshaw ground, East Coast Railway trounced Cuttack-B by an innings and 46 runs. Trailing by 101 runs in the first innings, Cuttack-B were skittled out for a paltry 55 in the second essay to suffered the heavy defeat. Left-arm spinner Saurabh Sehgal played instrumental role in the railway win, scalping four wickets for two runs in the second innings and match haul of seven for 43.
